The wartime front-line squadrons consisted of the 800-809 single-seat fighter squadrons in carriers, 810-819 torpedo-bomber squadrons in carriers, 820-859 Spotter reconnaissance and torpedo bomber reconaissance squadrons, 860-869 Dutch manned and subsequently Dutch navy squadrons, 870-879 single-seat fighter squadrons latterly for Royal Canadian Navy, 880-899 single-seat fighter squadrons in carriers.
